My Job Search part 3

The only way to learn what your Self needs is to spend some quiet, one-on-one time with YOU. There’s so much noise in our lives that we don’t consciously hear a lot of it - but our subconscious knows it’s there and we need to remove ourselves and tap into the quiet that our subconscious craves.

Joan Schramm

I need to get back in the habit of quiet/alone time. I spend time by myself, but lately it is always filled with something - reading, listening to a book, surfing the web, reading other blogs. I will start today to practice 15 minutes of me-time. After all one of my own values states:

I value my time. I give myself the gift of solitude everyday and sometimes, when I need it, in extended amounts. I plan ahead and set goals. I follow through with action. I evaluate the events of my life and I determine the sequence of events that will have the greatest value to me.

And this is one of my favorite quotes from the article The Call of Solitude:

“Being alone gives us the power to regulate and adjust our lives. It can teach us fortitude and the ability to satisfy our own needs. A restorer of energy, the stillness of alone experiences provides us with much needed rest. It brings forth our longing to explore, our curiosity about the unknown, our will to be an individual, our hopes for freedom. Alone time is fuel for life.”

How well do you do quiet/alone time?

I adore that quote!!! I do not do alone time well, and not nearly as much as I would like to. It seems like weekends are mad dashes to get together with friends and family, work obligations…. I need to make the time for nothing to do and being alone. Sunday mornings I have about 2 hours to myself and it is so precious to me. Not speaking for hours is heavenly, plus the chance to putter and move at my own pace. I love being a mom, but I can’t help from fantasizing about my single, pre-motherhood chunks of alone time.

Thanks as always for blogging such great stuff!
