It’s in the Stars

I have a friend who is studying to be an astrologist. And there is a lot of study involved. She is about two years into it and still learning about all the ins and outs of it. I just helped her put up a blog AstrologyA-Priory.
Personally I don’t think much about astrology. Oh yeah, every once in a while because it is right in front of me, I will read my horoscope. But I put about as much stock into is as I do fortune cookies.
I admire my friend though, for going against the norm in her search for life’s answers. There was a time when we both thought she would be going to hell in a hand-basket for even entertaining the idea!
I remember when the country was in an uproar because the Reagans were relying on astrology when running the country. Why were so many people disturbed over that fact?
Because it meant they turned over the governing of our country to something other than the best thing we have going for us - our capacity to think, our brains. Also, many Christians think astrology is evil, and since approximately 80-90% of Americans say they are Christian, that had to hurt. I remember feeling that way about it back then.
I have the same concerns with George W. getting his guidance from God. If ruling the country depends on stars and astrology, on hoping and praying, then do our brains even matter? Does our capacity to think matter? Don’t education and experience matter?
If everything depends on luck and fortune, if everything is in the stars, if everything is God’s will, why knock ourselves out doing anything at all?

I start today at 1:30, then I have a couple of days off. Normally I will work a full week. I am going to one of their how to use the planner classes on Tuesday. It will be a good refresher course. I got a free planner to use and $50 to dress it up how I want. My benefits start in 30 days and my 401k starts right away. Good company!
