Honey I’m Home and Self-Loathers Unite

This is a funny commercial from Thailand! I hope it brings a chuckle to your day.

Here is a funny article on How to Sabotage Yourself and the steps to take to get there. This tutorial is designed specifically for self-loathers. Follow these instructions carefully to become extremely unhappy, poor, disrespected, lonely, and better yet, to hate yourself even more. My favorites were:

  • Always look pissed off or upset when you’re at work. You want to make sure everyone knows how much you hate your job.
  • If anything makes you really happy, tell everyone how you will probably never be that happy again.
  • Always talk about your “horrible day at work” whenever you get the chance.
  • Always leave a tip of 10% or less… especially if you’re at a fancy restaurant. Their work is never quite good enough to be worth the full 15%, and the more the bill is, the less you have for tip anyway.

That last one reminds me of my niece Kayla. I took her, my son Josh, and her friend Natalie out for dinner the other night to Simply Thai. When the bill came I put my debit card in the folder the waitress had brought. Kayla got out some money to put out for the tip. I told her she didn’t have to do that. She said, “Well, did you tip her?” I assured her I would leave her a good tip. You can always tell the children whose mothers were waitresses at one time!

My mom was a waitress forever and she taught us to treat the waitstaff courteously and to leave generous tips when the service was good. Just about everyone in my family ended up in the restaurant business for a time in their life. My brother John, my sister Mary and I even ended up working in the same restaurant as my mom.

Let me know your favorite self-loathing, self sabotaging technique :-) .

I have so many to choose from, it will be hard to pick just one. I think my worst self-sabotage is my procrastination. I put things off until the very last minute then am scrambling to get things done. It produces all sorts of anxiety and it’s horrible to be around me when am frantic trying to get somewhere on time with the task completed. I put off cleaning house until I know company is coming, and forget about my desk area, I look at my paperwork monthly after letting it all pile up. The good news is I am getting slightly better now that I have more energy.

Well I am glad I beat something into that girls head. Just kidding. I told Carl that Kayla made my day when she finished her first day working at Long’s drugstore and they gave her a list of medical terminology to learn and she said “maybe I should have listened to my mother” I guess every 19 years of so I will hear that. I think the only time she stopped by and stuck her head in my medical terminology class at the college to say hi was when I had a large illustration of certain male body parts on the screen. Embarrasing my children, just another service I offer.

It’s nice to know something we did stuck with the kids! We had a blast watching the video of Joe’s wedding where Josh and Kayla were dancing the night away. Kayla was cracking up - Look at Josh, he’s all happy and spinning around and look at me - I’m all serious and mad looking. Her friend and I tried to convince Josh and Kayla to show us their moves today, but they wouldn’t go for it.
