time management reduces stress

Here are some proven stress relievers from Texas Women’s University Counseling Center. These in particular have to do with time management.

1. Get up fifteen minutes earlier in the morning. The inevitable morning mishaps will be less stressful.

2. Prepare for the morning the evening before. Set the breakfast table, make lunches, put out the clothes you plan to wear, etc.

3. Don’t rely on your memory. Write down appointment times, when to pick up the laundry, when library books are due, etc.

4. Allow 15 minutes of extra time to get to appointments. Plan to arrive at an airport one hour before domestic departures.

5. Schedule a realistic day. Avoid the tendency to schedule back-to-back appointments; allow time between appointments for a breathing spell.

I disagree… Never arrive only one hour prior to your domestic flight!! 1.5 hours minimum… 2 hours is better. LOL!

How about one hour before the two hours? It was great seeing you this weekend!

All these are time saving techniques, which certainly reduce stress. We all need more time.

Can I add a couple that are cheezzzy but work wonders for me?

Bring a small paperback book of your choice with you everywhere. It reduces stress when standing in long lines at the bank or supermarket.

Everyday, spend at least 1/2 hour with yourself to meditate on simple things. Bring no work, no gadgets, no TV, no noise, nothing artificial. OK, sometimes I bring my wife and we make a date of it. I walk the dogs in the hills by my house every day. It is my evening entertainment, and takes all the day’s stress away.

Funny you should bring those suggestions up…see my next post.
