Comments Please

Somebody wrote me an email this morning and said,

I wish I could comment on your other blog about your personal journey. However I feel as if I would be trespassing into such delicate areas.  You have obviously traveled a long way in discovering yourself and I haven’t been that introspective ever…I don’t know you or your background enough to comment.

I wrote back to my wishful commentor and I send the same message to you:

I wish you would feel free to comment. Comments help me to define myself. You know how sometimes you say something off the top of your head and then someone questions you. Sometimes you have to reformulate your ideas, thoughts, answers, because suddenly you are confronted with a probing question or another viewpoint. Maybe you change your answer and maybe you don’t. The point is that you gave it some thought. And thinking about an issue helps to define who you really are.  Help me define myself by commenting. I dare you!

I dare you, too.

I’ve been enjoying reading your blog, mom. I get a few days behind and then I come on and I have lots to read!

Thanks Beth. It took me three days to read your last entry! I felt like I was there with you…you do such a good job of describing everything.

Hey Theresa, don’t be discouraged. I have spent the last year or two “downsizing” my life. I quit the high pressure (and high paying) job I had to one that is much lower key. I have reduced the number of jewelry classes I teach, am closing out my ebay store to just concentrate on designs and kits (did you get yours yet?)Reduced the number of classes I am taking and have learned to say no. That is probably the hardest to do. (well after this fundraiser for my friends, I will say no more often) I even took the summer off to have my shoulder operated on instead of trying to do it in a week and go right back to work. I love you! Bead on!

    Mary,

Thanks for the nice note. I just got the beads tonight when I came in from Toastmasters. I gave a speech on “The $1.98 Therapist.” It was a good one (if I do say so myself!). I am off to Hawaii with David and some friends one week from today so I am busy getting ready in between work and everything else. Ten days on the beach…seven books…good friends…can’t wait!

That sounds great! I am sick again with a cold and Hawaii sound like a place to be. Since we didn’t have a honeymoon, Carl and I are going on a cruise to the Caribbean in December. Not exactly skipping Christmas as we will be back by then. I love this teaching stuff! 3 weeks of holidays at christmas and all summer off!!! OK I am having surgery and teaching 10 credits online and helping mom with her knee surgery during summer, but other than that I am off.
    love
    Mary
PS the raffle is tomorrow. The bead basket contains over $100 worth of items and ticket is only $1.00!!!!!
